social media resources for the LAR
Category: blog

Thanks so much to those members of the Lakeland Association of Realtors who attended my presentation on social media for realtors this week.  Below are links to many of the resources we discussed:

Google

Google Local | A place to claim your small business listing – like all websites, use the terms people would use to search for you in your profile.

Google Alerts | Use this to get daily (or weekly or as-it-comes) results – search your company, your competitors, your industry.

facebook

facebook groups | create or join groups for your professional associations

facebook pages | create a page for your business to disseminate information.  Users become “fans” of your page.

facebook ads | pay-per-click only charges you when Leads actually step through your virtual door.  You can set a daily spending limit.

twitter

twitpic | Use this service to email pictures from your phone.  The subject line becomes the content of your tweet.

tweetdeck | This twitter client means you don’t need to go to the website to check twitter.  It allows you to place the people you follow in specific columns and displays search results.

cotweet | Several people can post to the same account with this service.  This is what companies like Home Depot and Zappos use.

blogs

RSS | Here’s a small primer on Reall Simple Syndication.

Google Reader | Use and RSS reader to bring websites to you.  This is the RSS reader I use.

WordPress.com | You can use this service to blog at YourNameHere.Wordpress.com.  Blogger is another popular free blogging platform.

If you have any questions, please feel free to comment below and I will respond here.  Thanks again for the opportunity to work with you!

One Response to “social media resources for the LAR”

  1. please DON’T use #jazzlives for pre-gig promotion — is skews the count of the AUDIENCE, which is what we’re going for. There are other places on Twitter to push your gigs.

What would be GREAT is if when the set ends you ask the crowd, “Did you like us? If you did, Tweet #jazzlives now and say so!” That will promote your excellence broadly to those on the campaign, and will boost the genuine # of listeners we’re trying to ascertain.

thanks, and thanks for your interest (and your energies in the music of course) — Howard Mandel
